 This blog has moved

I have moved my writing to iteutyouso.com.

The short version: I could no longer edit this blog, and the domain was pointing at it anyway. So I rebuilt the whole thing somewhere I control, and the domain now goes there instead.

What you'll find:

The bookI Teut You So — Why Fairness Wins in Free-to-Play. Forty years of making games, twenty of them as the consultant studios hire to argue against their own plan. Nineteen chapters, five dissections of real games.

The writing — the same material as the book, in short pieces. One idea at a time.

A free poster — Appendix A as an A2 wall chart: 37 requirements a healthy free-to-play game meets, and the 36 laws for running one. No email address required. Print it, hang it where the design meetings happen.

There is an RSS feed at https://iteutyouso.com/feed.xml if you would rather not check a website.

This blog stays where it is. Nothing new will appear here.

This blog is old ...

... but nevertheless you can scroll back what I said in the past years and compare to today. A lot of things happened meanwhile like our project Homeworld Mobile has been shut down as our publisher has been sold and the new owner didn't think core mobile games fit into their portfolio.

Nevertheless, from part time I am back to full time consulting and the clients are very interesting. The industry changed as well and we entered the bad phase of the new cycle end of 2024 and it is still going on. As you might know from my talks about the cycles of the industry it changes a lot. Consolidation (Activision Blizzard sold, EA sold etc.) , but as I forecast something new enters the arena of games: this time it is AI. It solves the largest problem we have: production cost.

As usual during the low of the cycle the PC is shining. This time the indies, the slop games, the creative experiments on Steam are wildly successful, and thats good. These impulses are important before we enter the phase again of "more of the same" to play secure.

And yours truly Teut has written a book. Of course it is about f2p and will be released soon via Amazon, both as eBook and paperback (Hardcover we will see).

I will keep you posted when it arrives
